Hi, I’m Daniel Ussia – though most people call me Dan.
I’m a designer from South West Sydney who’s passionate about using creativity to solve problems, tell stories, and help brands connect with people in meaningful ways.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me running, at the gym, kicking a soccer ball, or hunting down my next great coffee. I’m big on family, always up for a drink (be it beer or tea) and a game of Italian cards, and believe in bringing warmth and positivity into everything I do – whether that’s in a creative workshop or around the dinner table.
As a team member, I’m calm, collaborative, and always up for a challenge. I care about the little details, encourage those around me to take a chance, and genuinely love seeing ideas come to life through great design.
The Creative Path I’ve Built
Over the past decade, I’ve grown from a designer with a passion for visual identity into a confident creative with a strong voice in digital and motion design. From my early days freelancing for small businesses to working in-house at a healthcare startup (eventually acquired by CBA), I’ve always believed in design’s power to solve real business problems.
My time at Six Black Pens marked a turning point – both in creative confidence and craft. Working with some of Australia’s most prominent brands across finance, healthcare, and superannuation, I became the go-to expert for animation and digital design, collaborating closely with writers, strategists, and developers to create work that resonated across multiple platforms.
Today, I bring strategic thinking, technical skill, and a love for collaboration to every project. Whether it’s elevating a brand, crafting a seamless user journey, or using motion to capture attention, I focus on design that’s not just beautiful, but purposeful.
